What is Tungsten Dart Made Of?
Darts is one of the most beloved indoor sports, and having the right gear is essential to playing the game properly. Tungsten darts are renowned for their superior accuracy, so if you’re serious about darts then you’ll want to invest in the best tungsten darts on the market. So what makes a great tungsten dart, and how can you tell the difference between good and bad models? We’ll take a look at what makes a tungsten dart:
Barrels
The barrel of the dart is the most important factor in gameplay, as this part of the dart is what you’ll be gripping when throwing. Good tungsten darts should have a well-balanced barrel, with the metal evenly distributed throughout to ensure a perfectly consistent throw. The knurling and finger grooves should also be smooth and comfortable – no metal burrs or sharp edges on the barrels!
Flights
The flights of the dart are designed to reduce drag and provide greater flight stability and accuracy. Many tungsten darts feature interchangeable flights, allowing you to customize the dart’s performance according to your preferences. Look for flights that feature intricate designs and shapes, as these have been specifically designed to improve the flight path of the dart.
Shafts
The shaft of the dart is arguably the most important part of the dart, as this part provides the necessary stability to ensure accurate throws. Look for darts with strong, lightweight shafts that are designed to reduce deflection, as well as those that feature locking mechanisms to ensure the flight stays securely in place.

Great darts. Great darts for practicing and having fun
Good product. Worth the money
Not as sturdy as you would think for the £. Within 2 days of these darts being given as a 21st birthday present the top plastic end had splayed and the flight falls out every time it’s thrown. Very disappointing for the £50 price tag
For amateur and serious competitors who want a slim and sleek dart, the WINMAU MvG Acclaim Tungsten Steel Tip Darts are perfection. The slim barrel profile is perfect for precision throwing and an oxidized titanium look gives it an edge. The darts feature a uniquely engineered grooved grip that’s ergonomically designed for comfort.

User reviews
Anderson Code’s. Cracking darts, great delivery time, and being able to pay monthly has helped a lot after I snapped a point in my other Anderson’s
Darts. Favourite player. Great darts.
Fab grip. Excellent darts would buy again
Great darts. Really great darts and quick delivery, was really happy with them
changed these for a lighter set. nice feel very grippy
Awful. The darts are made completely different so one of the barrels doesn’t even allow the full shaft/stem to be screwed in right. After paying £90 I thought I’d be getting some quality but they’re made wrong and now will cause me a problem in getting them exchanged 👎
What if you’re looking for a more conventional style of darts? Why not opt for the Unicorn Gary Anderson Code 90 Percent Tungsten Steel Tip Darts? Here you get the classic slim barrel design attached to a wide grooved grip to ensure maximum control.

great price. great price - quick delivery and they look good too
Darts. Came well packed and delivered early. A good set of darts
Great ideal darts. They are great, however the stems are not as stable as I thought, one has snapped after a few days use and now I have to buy replacements, its a minor really and they throw great.
Darts. Well built and heavy
Good Darts. Nicely finished. Feel good quality
Arrows. Good darts for the price
Nice Set of Darts. Really nice set of Darts. Comes with a nice pouch and some spare flights. Only downside like most reviews is that the flights every now again will fall out if you hit awkwardly on the dart board. Other than that, Im very pleased with them.
Comfortable consistent grip - Increased my first 9 average straight away. Good as a first set of darts as straight barrel and middle weight

#7: CUESOUL 95% Tungsten Steel Tip Darts
CUESOUL 28 Grams Tungsten Steel Tip Darts Set 95% Tungsten with Luxury Case(CSTSTD028-28L)
User reviews
Great set of darts. As a very average dart player (never got a 180), who plays on occasion in the local I spent bit of time deciding whether it was worth investing in new set of darts as I had lost confidence in my old light ones (22 grams). Did a bit of research and finally decided upon this set. What a great decision it turned out to be as I won the weekly competition in my local the first time I used them hitting more trebles that I ever have before. Lovely feel off the darts and nice weight, don't feel heavy but keep their line and fairly root themselves into the board. A few of the other local players were very impressed also so big hit all round. Nice case and handy few accessories come with them, the case is bit on the big side however, you would need large jacket pocket/handbag to carry them around. Definitely a five star product.
Good cheap tungsten darts if you use other flights. (I bought the 26g set.)This is a good cheap set of tungsten darts for a beginner home player like myself, so long as you ditch the included flights, which make the darts unstable.Evidently, the flights are one of the areas where corners were cut in order to make them cheap, along with the case.Once you get some quality flights on them - in my case, Harrows Supergrips - they really start showing their potential.I've been playing constantly with them for the past couple of weeks, and still haven't had a single flight fall out, or even a so much as a slightly loosened stem; those aluminium stems (and the rubber O-rings that come included) are doing an excellent job. They obviously won't instantly make you a better darts player, but despite the generic branding - there isn't even a model name or number mentioned - they're a great starter set that can act as a stepping stone to the expensive sets used by the pros once you get your eye in and you become good enough to compete in local leagues/tournaments.
Great darts I hit a treble twenty first dart 👍. The darts are very well balanced, hit 140 with the first three darts I threw 😁
Lovely set of darts. Not a bad word to say about them lovely balanced darts with a nice grip only thing is you need a tool to tighten the shafts but apart from that there amazing
Good darts but broken case. Darts are good and quality, however the case was slightly damaged inside with broken lugs for the stem holders
Excellent product. Superbly packaged, second item I’ve bought from the company. First being a pool cue. Real care and attention to detail they seem to know how it adds to the item. Top quality well priced Highly recommended
Dart bag. Great
Lovely darts. Easy to use.
The CUESOUL 95% Tungsten Steel Tip Darts come with precision barrel technology and a bigger barrel-level ratio. This design helps players to achieve greater accuracy, and the 95% tungsten material ensures a weight balance of up to 50%.
#8: Target Gen 2 90% Tungsten Steel Tip Darts by Rob Cross
Target Darts Rob Cross Gen 2 25G 90% Tungsten Swiss Point Steel Tip Darts Set, Silver, Aqua and White
User reviews
Great darts. Great darts. Remind me a little of the Unicorn Phase 2’s. Was sceptical about the Swiss Points before getting them, but having used them and changed the points, you forget that they’re different. They’re quick and easy to change and they seem quite strong. Haven’t had any break (yet). Darts have good grip and balance. Overall, very happy.
They just feel natural. Target seem to be leading the market for their dart making and these show why. The machining is perfect! I know allot of people don’t like the Swiss points but these are amazing. There’s nothing worse than having a point break before a match but with these you just put a spare set of Swiss points in your case and within 10 seconds they can be swapped out. Rob Cross darts look just as good in real life as they do on the cameras, well balanced and fly just how you want them to!
Lovely grip. Good grip.
Lovely Darts. Wonderful Feel. Absolutely brilliant. Arrived at 1230 today and I only put them down in order to eat dinner with my better half who was very glad of the peace & quiet whilst I threw all day. Fab darts. Couldn’t happier!
Fantastic company. 4th target set I’ve bought in last 2 month , duzza , Clements , aspinall and now cross all with their takoma cases 👌🏽 Absolutely perfect , very very impressed with team target and their manufacturing
Lovely set of dart's. Brilliant dart's all round lovely grip and nice barrel length
Husband loved these. Husband is very happy 😊
Not worth the money. This is my second set! First set the tip broke after only a few throws. Second set lasted two months but tip broke in the same place. Obviously a fault on the tips.Love the weight and how they feel but not worth the money as they don’t lastWill not recommend
The Target Gen 2 90% Tungsten Steel Tip Darts by Rob Cross is the perfect choice for serious players. #9: RED DRAGON Clarion Black Tungsten Darts
User reviews
Great shape. Have had to change the stems to extra small as no option with darts but great feel to the barrels
Slightly Heavy Dart Weight. I've only given these darts a 3* plus rating because when I first started to use them, the 24g felt a bit heavy, which was a bit of a shock, as I've been used to throwing 28g darts. But the grip on the darts where the ridges are, I can't really fault it. So after throwing them for a few weeks now, I've gotten used to them, as expected, but they still feel slightly heavy. If I just throw a natural lazy dart with them, the darts just fall under where exactly I need them to go, which is a shame, so I feel I nerd to throw them a little harder than I want to.So I have decided to order the 22g ones now, because with the 22g being that slightly lighter, I think the darts, aftrr throwing them with that natural lazy throw, will end up going in the board slightly higher and more or less exactly where I want them to go, without feeling I have to throw them harder.I'll review the 22g ones when I've thrown them a few weeks. Hopefully thumbs up, and least a 4* for them. These 24g would of had a higher star rating from me, if they had of been great for my throw. But they are still good darts, and like I said, the middle grip on them is really good.
If you’re looking for a classic and reliable tungsten dart, then you should try out the RED DRAGON Clarion Black Tungsten Darts. This model is designed for precision and accuracy, and the 90% tungsten barrel is guaranteed to provide outstanding performance.
#10: Target Darts 975 97.5% Tungsten Steel Tip Darts
Target Darts 975 03 23G 97.5% Tungsten Swiss Point Steel Tip Darts Set,Black and Green
User reviews
Expensive but worth it. After well over 12 months of heavy use these darts just don’t show signs of wear. They look incredible and the machining really shows. The included case, Swiss point key and spare points give you everything you need to play. They feel natural and comfortable in the hand and fly through the air lovely. Whether they’re for show or to play with, they won’t disappoint.Pros:•great grip•unmatched looks•perfectly weighted•well balanced•look good with any stem/flight setup•presentation box•case included•plenty of sparesCons•expensive for most
Amazing. Just got them and had a practice and I love them! Not only are they stunning-looking darts but the balance is perfect for me, and the grip - wow, no need for wax with these gems they're incredible! Packaging is top class and the exclusive wallet is a real bonus. To top it off you get Swiss points too. Worth every penny.
I can't find anything wrong with this item. love it
Grippy and look amazing. Darts won't really make you play much better, you can either throw a dart or you can't. These are nice darts though, nice feel and look good.
Engineering marvel. Have been playing darts for 55 years & have never seen or played with anything as beautiful as this set . I have the 21gram weight and I feel like a winner immediately when I have them in my sweaty paws 😜 very very pleased with the darts ( a bit pricey) but considering what you get in the box . Just to add that I have now had them for 2 months or more & I had to really persevere with them . Eventually it started to come together. Love them more than ever 😍just remember to keep at it with these beauties it can take a lot of time at the board. Good luck ,James Pedder.
Darts. Great
Best darts for grip I have ever had. These are the best iv bought so far the balance is spot on
Easy on the eye and feel great. The texture on the barrel makes it so much easier to hold each dart exactly the same way on each throw. Beautifully presented and such a overall good feel to them. Previously used the Vapor8 by target and as much as I loved them the barrel was too smooth.
Finally, we have the Target Darts 975 97.5% Tungsten Steel Tip Darts. As the name suggests, these darts come with 97.5% of tungsten, ensuring you get consistent and balanced darts with precision and accuracy each time. This makes them perfect for competitive throwers who demand the best performance.

The Benefits of Tungsten: Why Choose These Durable Darts?
Before you decide which type of tungsten dart is right for you, it’s important to understand the advantages of using this material. Tungsten is three to four times denser than brass and steel. This means that your darts will be far heavier than their brass or steel counterparts, giving you more control and stability when you throw. Additionally, tungsten darts are far more durable than steel darts and are not susceptible to bending, cracking, or other damage like steel darts can be.
Another advantage of tungsten darts is that they come in a wider range of shapes and sizes. This means that you can easily find one that fits your throwing style perfectly. Many tungsten darts also feature a ringed or knurled grip for superior control and accuracy when throwing. Finally, tungsten darts come in various percentages of tungsten, often over 90%. Higher percentages of tungsten offer higher weight-outs and therefore extra control when throwing.
How to Be Sure You’re Getting the Best Darts
When you’re shopping for tungsten darts, it’s important to know how to ensure you’re getting a high-quality product. Here are some tips to follow to be sure you’re purchasing the best tungsten darts:

- Check the finish: Make sure the finish on the darts is smooth and without any defects.
