Best Self Healing Dartboards –Β A Complete Guide π― Dartboards are a great way to have fun and improve your skills at home or in a pub. But not all dartboards are created equal. Some dartboards are made of cheap materials that wear out quickly and cause bounce-outs. Others are made of high-quality materials that last longer and offer a smooth playing surface.
One of the most important features to look for in a dartboard is its self-healing ability. Self-healing dartboards are made of natural sisal fibers that close up after each dart is removed, leaving no visible holes or damage. This helps to extend the life of the dartboard and reduce maintenance.
But how do you choose the best self-healing dartboard for your needs? There are many factors to consider, such as size, shape, wiring system, mounting system, price, and brand reputation. To help you make an informed decision, we have reviewed some of the best self-healing dartboards on the market and provided a buyerβs guide with tips and tricks on how to choose and maintain your dartboard.
Here are some of the most popular and highly rated self-healing dartboards on the market:

Great dartboard. I have always avoided stapled dartboards but now staple free boards are becoming so unaffordable that I decided to try this Winmau Diamond. I am so pleased with it that it wil be my dartboard of choice in the future.
Ok for the money. It’s a decent dartboard for the money, it’s not a professional board, but I’m not a pro player so it does ok for me
Nice Dartboard. It’s a very nice board and the surround is great!!

Great design and well made, as expected. Finally decided to buy a dartboard again after about ten years and as my last Winmau was great, I thought I'd go for one again. I was not disappointed! The board is well made, very sturdy and solidly built. The adjustment feet and hanger on the back make it very easy to put up, even on an uneaven wall, as there's plenty of travel in the threaded feet. The best thing about this board that sets it apart from the others has to be the super thin 'blade' segment separators. It just makes it so much less likely to get a bounce-out. So any extra cost associated with this board over cheaper ones on the market is negated by the decreased likelihood of a dart bouncing out and damaging your floor. Now,if only I could perfect my aim, I might be able to save my walls as well!
They just get better and better. Always been a fan of Winmau blade boards.Have the blade 3 and 4 which i though were dam good boards and it is hard to improve too much on them with the blade 5 but i am very impressed with the upgrades to the 5.Is a bit firmer and smaller wire and after playing on it for 8 hrs not a single bounce out.Is a really good quality board with a lot of thought going into it. Well done Winmau. Is going to be hard to improve on this when its time for the new model.
Great board, damaged outer ring. Great board, and fast delivery as expected when using prime. However, one of the numbers on the outer ring was damaged which made me think it was a return which was sent back out. This wasn’t a massive issue for myself as I was able to replace the outer ring with the one off my old blade 4 board. The board itself was of the highest quality I have become accustomed to when purchasing the blade dartboard range over the years.Great job Winmau !!
Excellent Quality for a good price. Bought this dartboard after watching the world championships and fancied playing the real thing. The board is top quality and well worth the money. Regular upkeep of the board will ensure it lasts for a long time, I've had mine for 2 months and it's quality.I am not a pro by any means and thought if I were to buy one I may as well spend a little bit more and get a decent one. If you are unsure about getting this one or a cheaper variant, I would recommend this. One of the best features are the rotating wheels behind the dartboard which allows you to tighten it to any surface to make sure it is flush to the wall.Overall a top quality product and worth every penny.
Whats going on, Iβm still rubbish. Advertised as the dartboard that gives you X amount more scoring space due to its miraculous wiring system, I bought this board with the express belief that I’d be banging in the trebles and doubles faster than a baldy Dutchman on a caffeine binge. No chance!! No idea why they bother to include this pointless ‘selling point’ in their blurb as it does literally nothing for my game. I’m still hitting 26’s and 43’s with annoying regularity and I’ve no idea how many best selling books I could have written if I wasn’t stuck on double 1’s . Do not believe the hype, you will not become an instant darting sensation overnight and this is just another ‘too good to be true’ gimmick that I’m afraid I was dull enough to fall for.It looks nice though.
Good quality home dartboard. Decided to buy a dartboard on a bit of a whim and selected this as a mid-price option. No real idea about the 5-blade bristle technology or anything like that, but it is sturdy and solid and includes a bracket to hang on the wall. Instructions included and all very simple. The board is up, and despite my lack of ability with the steel tipped things you hurl at the board I am very happy with my choice. Perhaps things will improve. If you are new/returning to darts after a layoff, worth getting a wall protector. One thing I already notice are the little of holes – be interested to see how efficient the self-heal is. I will update this review in a couple of months if I see issues, otherwise assume it has healed itself.
Already improving my scoring. Love it. Replaced a 15 year old Winmau board with this one.Great board. Within 20 minutes 2 darts that would have been bounceouts remained in the board as the angle of the wire deflected them into the board. The 3 adjustable fittings on the rear ensure a snug fit to the garage door where I have the board.
Prevented more than one hole. I have missed the board a few times (we can't all be MVGs) but this beauty has caught the errant arrow each time.I guess if you are missing the board by more than the width of the surround you should rethink the wiseness of playing darts.Softer than the board, the darts are easy to retrieve from it.Mine is fitted snuggly around a board which is attached to a stand - this means that when the dart impacts into the surround there is no wall behind it to help absorb the force of the impact. But it fits the board so well this is not an issue. The surround remains firmly secured around the board.
The Winmau Blade 5 Bristle Dartboard is another high-quality dartboard that has excellent self-healing capabilities. It has a self-healing sisal fiber surface, a staple-free bullseye, extra thin wires with reduced blade angles, a rota-lock system for easy rotation and leveling, and a removable number ring. Great stuff. Great, I gave as a gift and my friend loved. He only commented that makes some hole, of course. But the question is, if it will last for long or will get too damaged soon.I guess that’s normal. I don’t know

Winmau Blade 5 Bristle Dartboard

Good dart board. Does exactly what it should do for a bristle dart board. Less bounce outs as I got the model with the thin thin bed wire. I am using heavy darts which sink in quite far and sometimes need a wee tug to get them out. Happy with the purchase although I put black marker over the writing and emblems round the border as to make it a bit more plain. Just left the Winmau name at the top and it looks a bit less cluttered now. Averaging one treble 20 every 9 darts so far....
Good hardy dart board. Very good product, bought a cheaper board last time did not last long, as we play every day no sign of wear yet very pleased good sturdy board .
Great value for money. Did hold up much hope however this is a great product for the money and very professional. Delivered really quick even though they said it would be delayed received with few days.
Great Dart board. Great Dart board, with an excellent mounting system that make it easy to set up allow you to rotate the board around as the area start to wear. i had an issue with one of the rear adjusters, but they sent me out another with out any issue so first class service as well
Quality board. Nearly daily use for nearly twelve months, very little signs of wear. Probably could do with rotation now, but there’s so much life left in it. Well worth the money.
Best dartboard by far. Best dartboard I have owned. Looks and feels quality. This is the one to get. Wires are super thin hardly any bounce outs at all. Definitely worth the money that's why I have given this dartboard 5 stars
Good quality dartboard. It does exactly what it's meant to do. I have a purpose built darts room and bar and will be using the board for games with friends. It is well made and should stand the test of time.Very happy with this product.
Sturdy, heavy board. Came quickly - very heavy, but sturdy. Had fabulous fun on it last night with my 19 year old son that it was bought for. Highly recommend.

Buyerβs Guide

Wiring System
- Stapled wires: These are wires that are attached to the board with staples. They are cheap and easy to produce, but they may cause more bounce-outs due to their large surface area.
- Staple-free wires: These are wires that are embedded into the board without staples. They reduce bounce-outs by minimizing surface area, but they may be more expensive and harder to replace.
- Blade wires: These are thin wires that are pressed into the board with blades. They offer the least amount of surface area and bounce-outs, but they may be very expensive and fragile.
Mounting System
- Screws: These are metal fasteners that are drilled into the wall or a stand and hold the dartboard in place. They are simple and cheap, but they may damage the wall or leave holes.
- Brackets: These are metal devices that are attached to the wall or a stand and allow the dartboard to slide in and out. They are convenient and adjustable, but they may loosen over time or cause wobbling.

Tips and Tricks
- Rotate your dartboard regularly to prevent wear and tear in certain areas. You can use the removable number ring to rotate the board easily.
- Clean your dartboard occasionally with a damp cloth to remove dust and dirt. Do not use any chemicals or solvents that may damage the sisal fibers.
- Store your dartboard in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Extreme temperatures or humidity may cause warping or cracking of the board.
- Use soft-tip darts or steel-tip darts with blunt tips to avoid damaging the sisal fibers. Sharp tips may cause more holes or tears on the board.
- Avoid throwing darts too hard or too close to the board as this may cause bounce-outs or damage to the board. Aim for a smooth and consistent throw with moderate force.
How to Maintain Self Healing Dartboards?
- Rotate your board regularly. Certain parts of your board are more prone to wear and tear than others, especially the 20 segment and the bullseye. By rotating your board, you can even out the damage and prevent holes from forming. Depending on how often you play, you may need to rotate your board every few days or at least once a week or so.
- Twist the darts lose as you take them. Do not pull them straight out as that way you have a high chance of pulling the sisal fibers out with them. Instead, twist them gently as you remove them to preserve the surface of the board.
- Keep your steel tip darts sharpened. A blunt tip will pack down the fibers on the board and reduce their ability to heal. A sharp tip will penetrate the board more easily and cause less damage. You can use a dart sharpener or fine sandpaper to sharpen your darts regularly.
- Never use water or other liquids to clean the board. Water can damage the sisal fibers and cause them to swell, crack, or rot. It can also affect the wiring system and cause rusting or corrosion. If your board gets dirty, use a soft cloth or a brush to wipe it gently. Do not scrub or rub too hard as that can also damage the fibers.
- Store your board in a cool and dry place. Avoid exposing your board to direct sunlight, heat, humidity, or cold as these can affect the quality and durability of the board. Keep your board away from windows, radiators, fireplaces, air conditioners, or fans. Also, avoid placing your board near sources of vibration or noise as these can loosen the screws or wires.
How Long Does It Take for the Dartboard to Heal?
- Rotate the board regularly to distribute the wear and tear evenly.
- Avoid exposing the board to direct sunlight or excessive heat, which can dry out and damage the fibers.
- Do not use water or other liquids to clean the board, as this can cause swelling and warping of the fibers.
- Use soft-tip darts or steel-tip darts with thin points, which can reduce the impact on the fibers
